The rarest of the three pitaya varieties, yellow dragon fruit comes from the wild Andean regions of South America and is still almost unknown in Europe.

The sweetest of the pitaya family, naturally sweet, fresh, and with no tartness whatsoever.

A natural source of fibre, which contributes to normal intestinal function.

How To Eat & Store

Description

Yellow dragon fruit: sweet like lemonade, straight from a cactus

Yellow dragon fruit does not taste the way people expect a cactus fruit to taste.

Instead of something heavy or earthy, it is incredibly fresh, juicy and easy to eat. Sweet like tropical lemonade, with almost no acidity, a kiwi-like freshness and tiny crunchy edible seeds that give texture to every spoonful.

This rare yellow variety, native to the Andean regions of South America, is the sweetest of all pitayas. A good fruit can naturally reach over 20° Brix, making it sweeter than many mangoes, while still feeling light and refreshing.

Our yellow pitayas grow in rocky, sun-drenched landscapes along the Andes, where the dry climate and strong mountain light help concentrate sugars and aroma naturally. The fruits are left to mature slowly on the cactus until they reach full sweetness before harvest.

Inside the bright yellow skin is a translucent white flesh that is intensely juicy and almost drinkable. Many people eat it chilled with a spoon straight from the fruit.

Yellow pitaya is also naturally refreshing and hydrating, making it one of the easiest tropical fruits to enjoy regularly.

Most Europeans have never tasted a properly ripe yellow dragon fruit. Once you do, it becomes very hard to forget.

Good taste quality could be better

First order of 2 red pitayas was very good. On the 2nd order, I received 3 pitayas with white flesh of which 1 was good also flavorful in the other two, the flesh was very brownish on the inside an egg that the pitayas were no longer as good and I had to dispose of them. Unfortunately, the prices are a shame!
