At Jurassic Fruit, we believe an avocado should be chosen for taste, texture, and real ripeness — not for how long it can wait on a supermarket shelf. That is why we work with small growers who let their avocados stay on the tree much longer, sometimes up to twice as long as conventional fruit. The result is an avocado with more depth, more good fats, more creaminess, and a far richer flavour.

Our avocado season can look different from the standard market for one simple reason: for us, season means peak taste.

Unlike many commercial avocados, ours are harvested when they are physiologically ripe. They are still firm when they arrive, but inside, the fruit has already had the time it needs to develop its full character. So instead of being forced to ripen artificially, it simply continues its journey naturally at home.

Press lightly with your fingers. When the avocado feels soft, it is ready. And when it is ready, you taste the difference.

Why our avocados taste so much better

More time on the tree, more richness in the flesh

Avocados do not soften on the tree, which means harvest timing is everything.

It takes real expertise to know when to pick the fruit: not too early, not too late, but at that precious moment when the avocado is still firm outside and already full of flavour inside. That extra time on the tree allows the flesh to build more oils, more density, and more of that buttery, nutty depth that makes a truly great avocado unforgettable.

Some of our Spanish avocados stay on the tree for up to 16 months. In the case of certain Hass avocados, our growers may leave them for 10 to 18 months after flowering, instead of harvesting after around 6 months as conventional farms often do. That patience changes everything: more intensity, more creaminess, more pleasure.

Grown with care, not pushed by industrial farming

You may have heard that avocados are always problematic. The truth is more nuanced.

The real difference is not the fruit itself, but how it is grown.

Most of our avocados come from small farms in Spain, where growers farm without pesticides and care deeply for soil life, water use, and long-term fertility. Instead of relying on herbicides and leaving the ground dry and exposed, they keep the soil covered and alive. Unwanted weeds are removed manually and left to decompose on the ground, helping the soil stay moist, vital, and protected from quick evaporation.

This living-soil approach can make a remarkable difference. Rather than watering every day like many intensive farms, some growers only need to water once a week. For us, this is what a better avocado looks like: richer flavour, healthier soil, and a more eco-friendly way of growing.

Depending on the season, you may find several varieties in the collection, each with its own personality:

Their flavours can range from salted butter to hazelnut, sometimes with a subtle sweetness, depending on the variety and moment in the season. Fresh avocado delivery from Southern Europe

If you live in Europe, it makes sense to favour avocados grown closer to home.

That is why most of our avocados come from Spain and travel by road, not by air. This shorter route supports better freshness and a more grounded sourcing model, while helping you enjoy outstanding avocados from the Mediterranean region.

Your avocados are delivered still firm, so you can let them ripen at your pace. Keep them in a cool place above 5°C, then leave them at room temperature until slightly soft. If you want to speed things up, place them in a paper bag with an apple or banana.

Once ripe, they usually keep for around 5 days in the fridge.
