In my opinion, durian doesn't deserve the name puke fruit at all. Yes, it has a strong smell. Must one of them get nauseous - no. The smell was reminiscent of sliced onions. Not dramatic, then. The taste was quite good. Personally, the taste reminded me of a persimmon. A bit milder than a persimmon and with a light onion and garlic aroma. The flesh was wonderfully creamy. On site in Thailand or Vietnam, the durians certainly taste even better when fresh.
