Heavenly! Fruity delight.
Katrin A. (DE)

Often described as lychee’s more refined cousin, longan combines juicy honeyed sweetness with delicate floral notes and a subtle musky depth.

Known as the “Dragon’s Eye” across Asia, its translucent flesh surrounds a glossy dark seed, creating the appearance that inspired its legendary nickname.

Naturally rich in vitamin C and polyphenols, it provides a natural quick source of energy.

How To Eat & Store

Step 1 - Peel

Crack the thin golden brown shell gently with your fingers or teeth, then peel it away completely to reveal the translucent flesh inside.

Step 2 - Eat Around the Seed

Enjoy the translucent white flesh surrounding the glossy black seed, then discard the seed once finished.

Step 3 - Enjoy

Best enjoyed chilled to highlight its delicate floral sweetness. Perfect on its own, in fruit salads, desserts, or infused into refreshing summer drinks.

Step 4 - How to Store

Refrigerate upon arrival and enjoy within 5–7 days for optimal freshness. For longer storage, longans can also be frozen. The texture may soften slightly after thawing, while the flavour remains beautifully preserved.

Taste Profile

Longan is subtle, honeyed, and floral: a sweetness gentler than lychee, layered with delicate musky depth and a lingering perfume like aroma. The translucent flesh melts effortlessly on the palate. More refinement than intensity, and quietly addictive by the handful. Especially refreshing when served well chilled.

Description

Longan: the honey-sweet jewel of Southeast Asia

In Chinese, longan means "dragon eye", a name inspired by the fruit's appearance once peeled. Beneath its thin golden-brown shell lies translucent flesh surrounding a glossy dark seed, creating a striking resemblance to an eye. It's a fruit with a legendary name, and one that's been cherished across Asia for centuries.

Growing in large hanging clusters, longan is loved for its juicy flesh and naturally sweet flavor. Notes of honey, white grape, and tropical flowers come together in a way that feels both refreshing and comforting. Sweet without being overpowering, it's the kind of fruit that's surprisingly easy to keep reaching for.

Longan has long been enjoyed throughout Southeast Asia, where it's eaten fresh, dried, and shared during family gatherings and celebrations. Naturally containing vitamin C, potassium, and polyphenols, it combines remarkable flavor with a long history of appreciation.

Simply crack the shell with your fingers and enjoy the translucent flesh around the central seed. Delicious straight from the fridge, added to fruit salads, blended into drinks, or enjoyed one by one as a refreshing tropical snack.

    More bland lychees

It's all in the tire. Easier to peel than lychees, however, and the kernels are homogenous in size.
